Guerlain launched a new fragrance in 2015 simply named Mon Exclusif and in the absence of a specific name you were invited to christen it yourself giving it a more personal or creative name.
The composition of the fragrance, created by Thierry Wasser, is an Oriental Fougère Eau de Parfum described as a gourmand Jicky with outstanding raw materials in its composition.
Top notes: Mandarin, Bergamot, Sugared almond note.
Heart notes: Carla Lavender, Solar notes.
Base notes: Iris, White musk, Sandalwood, Toffee accord, Vanilla
When you first look at the notes you kind of wonder how the juxtaposition of the different accords will work but they surprisingly do, producing a very unique scent.
Mon Exclusif opens bright, light, sparkling and sweet. The notes are very distinctively layered and you can distinguish them all individually but also as part of a tale the perfume tells. As the sparkling top notes slowly fade into the background, lovely intense lavender makes its appearance lifted by the solar notes and iris that also give it longevity and depth.
As the perfume moves to releasing its base notes, the lavender subsides just a little bit as if dipped in sugar and blends with the sandalwood and musks. At this point the buttery vanilla and toffee accord remind me of a freshly toasted crumpet layered with fresh butter and generous amounts of hazelnut spread.
The Eau De Parfum concentration and the great quality of the raw materials used, help Mon Exclusif last for many hours on my skin and give it very long projection. The perfume keeps releasing fougère notes even after many hours and prevents itself becoming overly sweet or vanilla-y. The lavender especially, although delicate, is omnipresent and helps lift the whole composition.
The illustrious Coque d'Or bottle has been used to house the scent. When I purchased my bottle it was the first few days of its release and at Selfridges, where it was exclusive, a lovely ceramist was present on the day so my personalisation touch was the letter M on the bottle.
Happy New Year everyone!
